THE STRIPLIN FOUNDATION PRESENTS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD TO CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE

New York, New York (June 15, 2006) The Striplin Foundation, Inc. awarded, Anthony Santiago, a senior at Christopher Columbus High School, Bronx, NY, their Amanda, Mary, and James Scholarship Award (AMJ). The Striplin Foundation, Inc. (TSF) is a 501 (c) 3 organization established in 2000, whose primary goals are to provide education scholarships to high school seniors and to disseminate information on mental health issues. Preference, for the AMJ Award, is given to students who have a disabled parent, guardian or household member, including but not limited to those who are psychologically disabled, however this is not a requirement for receiving the award.

In addition, consideration is given to those students who are active participants in some area of both the arts and sports, who have been accepted into a college, university or other post-secondary institution, and who will attend within one year of graduation.

The AMJ Award is given to honor the memory of Amanda Tia Striplin who participated on the track team and in the drama and choral clubs. She was killed in a car accident two months after her graduation from Christopher Columbus High School in August 1999. Her mother, Mary, was also killed and her brother James survived with near fatal injuries. The tragedy occurred as the family drove Amanda to begin her first year at the University of New Orleans.

Ms. Toi Jones, TSF Board member, presented the Seventh Annual AMJ Award at the Annual Honors Ceremony held at CCHS.

This year’s recipient, Anthony Santiago demonstrates the same qualities as Amanda. He was on one of the top cheerleading teams in the city, was on CCHS’ Yearbook Committee, and used the knowledge he gained from his courses in digital photography, drawing workshops and web design to develop his love of drawing people, landscapes and "just about anything else." He also enjoys taking photos of everything. Mr. Santiago is planning to attend Pennsylvania State University in Fall 2006.

The Striplin Foundation hopes to extend the AMJ Award to all high school seniors in New York City.

VIVICA A. FOX  TO HOST FIRST ANNUAL CELEBRITY CHARITY GOLF  GALA

TO BENEFIT THE STRIPLIN FOUNDATION, INC.

New York, N.Y. (June 1, 2006) – The Striplin Foundation, Inc. and Mac-Melius Agency, Inc. announced today the date of the first annual Celebrity Charity Golf Gala to benefit TSF’s scholarship fund and support victims that suffer from Mental Illness. This benefit extravaganza will take place on Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Seaview Marriot Resort and Spa in Galloway, NJ.

The Striplin Foundation, Inc.
is a 501(c)3 organization established in 2000, based in New York City, whose primary goals are to provide educational scholarships to high school seniors and to disseminate information on mental health illness as it relates to de-stigmatization and support to families, consumers and the organizations that serve them. "Many studies reveal that communal stigma is the leading reason why people of color do not seek help with mental health issues," says TSF Executive Board Member, JT Keitt. The lack of cultural competencies, qualified care in lower income communities, and stigma all contribute to disparities in the treatment of mental health.  "It is our goal to help educate the traditionally underserved communities with the hope that our initiatives will make a difference in attitudes", says Keitt.

Mac-Melius Agency, Inc. established in 2004, is a New York based publicity, marketing, and photography firm, that specializes in partnering with charities and organizations to coordinate events. The Seaview Marriott Resort and Spa is a Golf Resort and Spa located only minutes away from Atlantic City, it has an equally impressive Pines Course that was established in 1929. This is more of an American "Parkland-style" course that measures almost 6,800 yards from the tips. The Pines was carved from the woodlands surrounding the resort and features tight fairways with well-protected landing areas for a truly different challenge. It is also the Host Course for the ShopRite LPGA Classic 2006.

This golf outing will last from 1pm-6pm and will be hosted by BET’s RAPCITY host MADLINX. The VIP reception will be from 6pm-8pm and will be hosted by VIVICA A. FOX.
Additional Celebrity attendees will be announced at a later time. Current Sponsors include NFL's New York Giants and Southwest Airlines.
